Bordetella

 

What you should know:

Bordetella are Gram-negative aerobic rods common to the human body. They are chemoheterotrophs, and a few strains are pathogenic (whooping cough). The pathogen, B. pertussis, produces pertussis toxin, a compound that inhibits the host cell's G-proteins.
