Case presentation guidelines

Topic

Your case presentation should address an infectious disease case of interest to you. Topics should be submitted (first-come, first served basis) to me by April 1, along with a copy of the selected case publication. Instructor approval is required

Format

Your case should be given as a power point presentation and can be done in person or as a video. It should include:

• Patient presentation: symptoms and signs, chief complaints
• Patient exam: Any additional physical exam findings
• Differential diagnosis: based on initial findings
• Imaging and/or lab tests: X-rays, scans, blood tests, serological/molecular tests, cultures
• Case progression: sequential patient status and treatment updates
• Pathogen identification and discussion
• Treatment plan
• Patient outcome/case resolution
• References: (APA or other formats).

Restrictions

• You may not choose the same topic as someone else in class
