Prokaryotes Serratia marcescens colonies on Nutrient Agar Eukaryotes
Viruses

Welcome to MicroWorld. This site has been created to present the diversity of microorganisms to you in a multifaceted and organized approach. Resources that you will find here include a taxonomic outline of the major bacterial and archaean groups, along with many links to photographic images of representative species. The organization of the prokaryotes follows Bergey's Manual in its second edition, representing an up-to-date phylogenetic approach. As is the case with many such on-line resources, and indeed, with any taxonomic scheme, this site is still a work in progress. Links to the various microorganisms will take you to the author's web pages, and all copyrights associated with these pages remains with the images' authors.
